“Hale County This Morning, This Evening” by New Southern Photography artist, RaMell Ross, allows the viewer an emotive impression of the Historic South, showing the consequences of the social construction of race, while simultaneously trumpeting the beauty of life and offering a testament to dreaming despite the odds.
Panelists and New Southern Photography photographers, RaMell Ross, Jared Soares and Celestia Morgan, will examine the exhibition and L. Kasimu Harris’ essay, “The Dismantling of Southern Photography,” touching on the historical and contemporary disparities within the canon of Southern photography that exist along lines of race, gender and sexual orientation. Moderated by L. Kasimu Harris.
