OGDEN MUSEUM OF SOUTHERN ART TO HOST FREE FAMILY DAY CELEBRATING THE MUSEUM'S 20TH BIRTHDAY

Ogden Museum of Southern Art will host a Free Family Day on Saturday, September 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Museum invites the community and visitors to join them as the Museum celebrates its 20th birthday. During the free admission day, visitors can enjoy birthday party themed games, art activities and family-friendly entertainment.

Michelle Pontiff, Education Manager, Ogden Museum of Southern Art, states “It’s not every year a museum gets to turn 20 years old. Since opening its doors, Ogden Museum has been focused on building a relationship with the New Orleans Community, so what better way to celebrate the occasion with them? The day not only celebrates the Museum, but the community as well. We can’t wait to see everyone!”

Birthday party themed games will include: “Pin the Tail on the Universal Mule,” “Craft Your Own Birthday Hat,” an interactive birthday themed mural wall, a photobooth and face painting. In addition to the festive games, a museum-wide scavenger hunt will take place exploring the Museum’s special 20th anniversary exhibition, Knowing Who We Are: A 20th Anniversary Exhibition.

Hands-on art activities will feature crafts administered by community partners Macaroni KID, New Orleans Public Library, COX Communications and NOLA Books and Brains. Family-friendly entertainment will showcase performances by Make Music NOLA (10:15 to 11 a.m.),The Willow School’s Honors Chorus (11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) and Gal Holiday and the Honky Tonk Revue (1 to 2 p.m.).

To make the free day even more special, Ogden Museum will be offering a flash sale on Museum Membership all day. Free Family Day goers will be able to save 25% on membership when purchased in-person or online on September 23 only. For more information, visit www.ogdenmuseum.org

Admission is free to Museum Members and admission for Non-Members is $13.50 for adults, $11 for seniors 65 and older, $6.75 for children ages 5-17 and free for children under 5. Prices are subject to change when exhibitions are being rotated.
