Clementine Hunter was from the Cane River region of Louisiana and taught herself how to paint while living and working on Melrose Plantation. While she did not start painting until later in her life, she took inspiration from her experiences, memories and everyday life on Melrose Plantation. In her paintings, you can recognize buildings and other details that are from the plantation.

Instructions
Step 1: Think about the city and state that you are from. What makes it unique? What plants, animals, parks, streets, buildings and cultural elements make it special?
Step 2: Use a pencil to draw the outline of your state. Inside of the state, sketch out your favorite elements from the city and state that you are from. Think about things that you see in your daily life. What reminds you of home? You can include family members, friends and pets.
Step 3: Put your drawing on display and admire your hard work!

Clementine Hunter era de la región de Cane River en Luisiana y aprendió a pintar por sí misma mientras vivía y trabajaba en la plantación Melrose. Si bien no comenzó a pintar hasta más tarde en su vida, se inspiró en sus experiencias, recuerdos y vida cotidiana en la plantación Melrose. Paso 2: Utiliza un lápiz para dibujar el contorno de tu estado. Dentro del estado, dibuja tus elementos favoritos de la ciudad y especifica de dónde eres. Piensa en las cosas que ves en tu vida diaria. ¿Qué te recuerda a casa? Puedes incluir familiares, amigos y mascotas.
