Do you want to engage in critical conversations about art, interpretation and social justice?
Are you curious as to what goes on in an art museum?

Ogden Museum of Southern Art’s Teen Internship Program, formerly the Ogden Museum Teen Docent Program, is designed to provide teens a space to explore the arts and develop their creative voice.

    • Expand knowledge of the arts and related careers

During the school year, Teen Interns meet monthly to further develop their artistic practice through artist workshops, curation of a teen exhibition and assisting with Museum programming.

Teen Interns receive a stipend of $1000 for the 8-week summer program and $50 per meeting during the school year. Teens meet Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. during June and July and once monthly for 4-8 hours during the school year. A commitment to the year-long program is required.

Ogden Museum is committed to serving the current needs of New Orleans area teens and tackling the big issues in our local, national and global realms. This year, the program will continue to address issues such as racial equity, pluralism and environmental awareness, giving teens the access and resources they need to develop actionable ways to express themselves and be of service to their community.

Ogden Museum Teen Intern program was selected for the 2015 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award, the nation’s highest honor for the out-of-school arts and humanities programs that celebrate the creativity of America’s young people.

“Being a Teen Docent at the Ogden was not just an amazing experience, but a journey! The environment and the people at the Museum made me feel at home. It made me appreciate the beauty of the South and exposed me to things I didn’t know! It opened up doors for me and other creatives like me! I could always call the Ogden home, and I could always call my colleagues family!” – Bryce
