Shaw’s Sunship A New Focal Point in the Museum's Atrium

Kendall Shaw’s Sunship, for John Coltrane, a piece in the Ogden Museum of Southern Art’s Permanent Collection, was installed in the Museum’s atrium by our Curatorial Team this morning. Shaw is a New Orleans artist who gained national and international recognition with the Pattern and Decoration Movement. Combining his interests in mathematical patterns and systems, this work is an impressive example of Shaw’s use of contrasting colors to delineate diagonals and shapes. We are delighted to have this work welcoming Museum members and visitors alike to See the South.
