Wendo Brunoir, Don’t Catch You Slippin’ Up, Acrylic & spray paint on laser cut wood mounted to panel
Wendo Brunoir was born in 1982 in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he currently lives and works. After participating in various gallery shows, he started painting murals in and around New Orleans. Soon after, he traveled to different parts of the country with two other members painting murals in Texas, Mississippi and Georgia. In 2018, he was presented an opportunity to paint the first ever large-scale mural in Labo, Camarines Norte in the Philippines.
Instructions
Step 1: Look at the artwork, Don’t Catch You Slippin’ Up by Wendo Brunoir. What colors and shapes do you notice in the painting?
Step 2: When you look at the painting what part draws your eyes and attention? Which shape is your favorite? What about this shape makes it your favorite?
Step 3: Pick a shape to start with. Describe the shapes characteristics. If this shape what as musical instrument what would it sound like? Would it make a loud or low sound? Would it sound soft and soothing or energetic? What about the shape’s characteristics makes you think it would sound like this?
Step 4: Repeat Step 3 with another shape. Continue until you’ve gone through your favorite shapes or have finished all the different shapes in the painting.

Wendo Brunoir nació en 1982 en Nueva Orleans, Luisiana, donde actualmente reside y trabaja. Luego de haber participado en varias exposiciones en galerías, comenzó a pintar murales en Nueva Orleans y alrededores. Poco después, viajó a distintas partes del país junto a dos socios y pintó murales en Texas, Misisipi y Georgia. En 2018, se le presentó la oportunidad de pintar el primer mural a gran escala en Labo, Camarines Norte, en Filipinas.
Instrucciones
Paso 1: Echa un vistazo a la obra de arte Don’t Catch You Slippin’ Up de Wendo Brunoir. ¿Qué colores y formas puedes distinguir en la pintura?
Paso 2: Cuando observas la pintura, ¿Qué parte te llama más la atención? ¿Cuál es tu forma
favorita? ¿Qué hace que esa forma sea tu favorita?
Paso 3: Elige una forma para comenzar. Describe sus características. Si esta forma fuese un instrumento musical, ¿Cómo sonaría?, ¿Haría un sonido alto o bajo?, ¿Sonaría suave y relajante o enérgico?, ¿Qué características de la forma te hacen pensar que sonaría así?
Paso 4: Repite el paso 3 con otra forma. Continúa hasta que hayas pasado por todas tus formas favoritas o cuando se hayan terminado las formas que están en la pintura.
