On Saturday, September 10, 2022, families enjoyed free admission to Ogden Museum of Southern Art for Free Family Day. The event celebrated the exhibition A Summer’s Prayer, photographs that capture America’s love affair with summer.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., attendees enjoyed summer-themed activities, including art activities inspired by artwork on view and a Museum scavenger hunt with prizes. The free admission day included:

  • Family-Friendly Entertainment – including a puppet show and music from Homer Plessy Community School’s Orchestra and New Orleans based performer, DJ SIR ReAL.
  • Local Pop-Up Vendors – Simple Shenelle Candles and Symone Smith were on-site selling their crafts.
  • Community Partners – RicRACK, The Green Project, Electric Girls, Mystic Krewe of Scissors and Glue, Urban Conservancy and Young Audiences of Louisiana were on-site facilitating crafts.
  • Tanjariné Kitchen – Was in attendance serving their famous Mandela Burger.
