The Story Behind the O’s Anniversary O’possum Meet "Marsupius Magnanimous" by William Dunlap

The O’Possum you’ve seen hanging from a red O in our 15th Anniversary ads was dreamed up and painted by Mississippi artist and longtime Ogden Museum supporter, William Dunlap, in 2010.

With some other Museum supporters, Dunlap, as he puts it, “conspired to celebrate the O’possum as a fine and upstanding symbol of all that’s good about the American South.”

Dunlap even concocted a delicious drink name for the O’possum, which includes equal parts vodka, pomegranate juice and green garnishes. “The sort an O’possum enjoys so much,” jokes Dunlap.

Do you love the O’possum as much as we do? You can buy an O’possum print or t-shirt in the Ogden Museum Store this Saturday at our Anniversary Celebration!
