Bio
By utilizing wildly uncontrollable colors as negative space, mixed media artist and painter Laurie Alan Browne challenges the viewer to confront social injustices and personal struggles as hopeful opportunities for broad growth, both individually and collectively. Influenced by the cultural dichotomy of her birthplace in the Mississippi Delta, (somewhat) functional mental illness, and the youthful chaos and unrehearsed irreverence of Robert Rauschenberg, Browne examines, critiques, and celebrates the inescapable friction of being a modern Southern American.
