Home Is… A Sense of Place, A Sense of Self An exhibition of work created in KID smART classrooms across New Orleans

March 26 - May 22, 2022

This past year, in KID smART classrooms across New Orleans, students explored what it means to be home — in our state, in our city, and in ourselves. This exhibition reflects the places and spaces that feel like home, and the ways that we carry that feeling with us.

KID smART is a nonprofit on a mission to engage children and educators in dynamic, creative, and relevant learning through the arts. What began over twenty years ago as a weekend program has transformed into an arts-in-education initiative. Each year, KID smART works with over 3,500 elementary and middle school students and over 1,000 educators across the country. By blending the arts with academics, KID smART creates an educational landscape where the arts empower all children to access their full academic, creative, and personal potential.

Participating Schools:

  • Einstein Sherwood Forest
  • Esperanza Charter School
  • Hynes Charter School – UNO
  • Hynes Charter School – Lakeview
  • International School of LA – Camp
  • International School of LA – Dixon
  • Langston Hughes Academy
  • ReNEW Therapeutic Program
  • Robert Russa Moton
