New Orleans artist Samantha Mullen believes “hands are the incarnation of the secret feud between beauty abstracted from meaning and human connotation, between the real and the imagined, between work and play.” This is reflected in her work  – “the symbiosis of contradicting forms and ideas.” A pyrographic artist, Mullen’s craft is wood burning, and she hopes to burn things forever. Her brilliant work is available for purchase in the Museum Store through March 31.
