In celebration of Hoa Tay (Flower Hands): Southern Artists of the Vietnamese Diaspora, please join Ogden Museum for a very special NOLA Nite Market!
The evening will feature Lion and Vietnamese Fan Dance performances, along with food trucks, merchandise and craft-making by VIET (Vietnamese Initiative in Economic Training).
Author E.M. Tran will be on hand to sign the Museum’s official summer reading book, “Daughters of the New Year.” The book will be the focus of a Curated Conversation on Saturday, July 26 presented in collaboration with One Book One New Orleans. Additionally, Top Chef contestant and acclaimed chef Nini Nguyen will sign her cookbook “Dặc Biệt.” In Vietnamese culture, to be dặc biệtis means to be special and luxurious, or, as chef and cooking instructor Nini Nguyen puts it, adding something a little extra. Born and raised in New Orleans by Vietnamese immigrants, Nini presents recipes that fuse the best of Vietnamese and New Orleans cooking. The cookbook will be for sale in the Museum Store.
