About Dave Lemon

Dave Lemon was born and raised on the West Bank of the musically enriched city of New Orleans. Lemon’s smooth and sensual style reflects the direct influence the city had on him growing up. Jazz, Hip-Hop and R&B music flowed through the soul of Dave at a very young age.

He started at the age of nine singing in the Third Emmanuel Baptist Church Youth Choir, located in Bridge City, Louisiana. This is where he began to build his musical foundation and really discovered his God given talent to move people with his voice. For Lemon, music was (and still is) his deepest passion. In middle school, he formed his first singing group with some of his friends from the neighborhood. They dubbed themselves “Smooth Material.” This is where Lemon learned about vocal harmony, blending and working with a group of people to make one beautiful sound. Smooth Material would go on to compete in talent competitions across the state of Louisiana. At this time, Lemon would discover we was also naturally gifted at writing songs. He often used songwriting as an outlet to express his feelings.

During his junior year of high school Lemon joined the John Ehret Senior High School Chorus, where he received training in classical music, chord structures, how to read music and music theory. He used these tools to further advance his natural gifts. His next venture into the world of music was joining the R.A.M.S. (Raymond Anthony Myles Singers). Joining this group would change the way Lemon viewed music for the rest of his life. This group consisted of the best singers the City of New Orleans had to offer, and the late Raymond Myles was one of the world’s true musical geniuses. Under the direction of the Mr. Myles, Lemon took his talents to a level far beyond his wildest dreams. Traveling the world with Mr. Myles had given him the experience that he needed to go forth and follow his dreams of getting into the industry of music. Tragically, Mr. Myles was murdered in 1998.

Frustrated and saddened by the senseless death of Mr. Myles, Lemon joined the United States Army and moved to Fairbanks, Alaska. Thinking that he was totally done with music, he found his inspiration again in a chance meeting with a man by the name of Tyrone Nero. After a brief conversation, Lemon and Nero both discovered they shared the same passion for music, and the same desire to make a mark in the music industry. They came together to form Tundra Entertainment, on which they released two underground albums, “The Wait is Over” and “The Mad Vocalist.”

Due to his military obligations, Lemon was somewhat held back from fully seeking his dream of full time performing until 2006 when he served as a member of the U.S.A. Express Band. This is a group of soldiers with musical talents who travel the globe to bring music and joy to soldiers and their families. After touring with the U.S.A Express Band, he was selected as a member of the 2007 Soldier Show where he again traveled to perform. After nine months of touring, Lemon was ready to return to Anchorage, Alaska and get back to working on his own music. He formed a group named “Synergy” that took Alaska by storm, becoming the first artist in Alaska history to get in the regular radio rotation.

After leaving Alaska, Lemon returned home to New Orleans. He quickly gained prestige on the music scene in the city, performing at venues such as Harrah’s Casino, Sweet Lorraine’s, The Wine Bistro, Jazz Fest and The 12 Bar.

Today, Lemon is currently working on his fourth independent record release and is running his own audio / av company, “The Singing Sound Man.” When performing, he often does his own sound, both singing and mixing at the same time live on stage.
