Leather Carnival Mask-Making Workshop
Saturday, February 6, 2021 10 a.m. – noon
Presented on Zoom
$50 members/$55 non-members
The parades might not be happening, but we can still have some creative fun this Mardi Gras season! Join artist and educator Mikhayla Harrell to create a one-of-a-kind, leather mask fitted to your face and embellished with meaningful carnival ephemera! Learn about the history of mask wearing in Venice, Brazil and, of course, New Orleans. Create a simple, elegant and durable mask for your parading in place.
Leather material will be mailed to students before the workshop, but participates will need to gather these additional items:
– Hair dryer
– Hot glue gun and glue sticks
– A supply of other embellishments such as paint, feathers and ribbon
This workshop is limited to 10 participants so register soon to ensure your space!
