About Janie Luster
Janie Luster (Houma Nation) is a Tradition Bearer of Louisiana. Luster is described by many as a teacher of Houma traditions, a healer and a practitioner of tribal ways. she was the first to reintroduce an ancient form of basketry and now teaches the techniques to ensure that the knowledge is not lost again. This is especially important now that the Houma are moving from their homelands.
