In this workshop, artists from Artivism Dance Theatre will lead participants through their creative process for creating choreography inspired by artwork. The group will explore the current Tina Girouard exhibition and choose a work that resonates with each participant. Students will learn a variety of techniques for generating movement and implement these techniques to create a short choreographic phrase around an artwork of their choosing.

This workshop includes a brief tour of the exhibition Tina Girouard: SIGN-IN.

No dance experience required and all materials are provided. Must be 18 years or older to attend.

The collaborative is comprised of dance professionals with years of experience in both performance and instruction. Trained in a great variety of techniques, Artivism’s repertoire displays the expertise of company members ranging from movements of the African diaspora to Ballet. They believe in the power of movement to transform our health, our lives and our communities.
