During the week-long program, campers in grades 6-9 worked with photographer and teaching artist Aubrey Edwards to create a portfolio of edited work. Campers spent time learning basic elements of photography including composition, exposure, storytelling and functions of their camera. Then campers focused on more advanced areas of photography such as photojournalism, portraiture, lighting and photo-related technologies. At the conclusion of the program, campers selected their three favorite works for inclusion in this virtual exhibition.
Hello, Hola, and Welcome! The photos I have chosen for this exhibition carry some significance in my heart. My grandmother recently passed away, and this is to show her, as well as appreciate those I still have in my life.
I chose to photograph these things because of their clarity and good compositions. They might not be what one would consider pretty but they can definitely be interesting to look at.
I have always been interested in art, but besides using my mom’s phone camera, this is my first time learning about photography. I think nature is the perfect subject, and I also like experimenting with close up shots of everyday things. Now that I know more about how to use a camera, I am excited to continue taking pictures.
