The Ogden Museum of Southern Art has received a $10,000 emergency relief grant provided by the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities’ Louisiana Culture Care Fund. This generous contribution, designated for operational expenses such as staff retention and utilities, will provide critical funds for the organization during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

To date, the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities (LEH) has awarded more than $450,000 in grants to 50 humanities organizations in 19 parishes. 

“We are extremely grateful to Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities, as well as the continued support of The Helis Foundation, for their generous financial contributions to the Museum during these challenging times,” said William Pittman Andrews, Ogden Museum Executive Director. “This award will help ensure that Ogden Museum remains a strong cultural presence within the community.” 

The Louisiana Culture Care Fund is a new grant program providing emergency relief funding to humanities organizations impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.  Applications for the Louisiana Cultural Care Fund are open now through June 30, or until funds are expended. Grants are reviewed and awarded on a rolling basis, and are available to 501(c)(3) non-profit cultural organizations in Louisiana with a strong humanities focus, such as museums, historic sites and archives, as well as the state’s diverse array of humanities-focused media, festivals and more. 

Funding for the grant was generously provided by The Helis Foundation, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and Josef Sternberg Memorial Foundation. Initial funding was provided by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the federal CARES act.
