Bio

“I was born and lived in Mobile, Alabama until the age of six when my family moved to Quito, Ecuador, the birthplace of my parents. After six years, we returned to Mobile and after High School I headed to New York City to attend Parsons School of Design to study Painting. As a Junior at Parsons, I attended a year-abroad in Paris, France. At the time, I loved living in Europe and returned for a couple of years after receiving my BFA.

Back in NYC around 1990, I made a living working for a comics and graphic novel publishing company. Eventually, I gravitated back to the south and enrolled at Tulane University to study Architecture. Since receiving my degree in architecture, I have worked mostly as a Construction Project Manager in New Orleans, first for Whitney Bank and now for the City of New Orleans.

Currently, I balance work and making art, exhibiting as opportunity arises. My work is always informed by the back-story of my family’s Ecuadorian heritage, as well as, the influence and intangibility of ‘a sense of place’ in my paintings inspired by my time in NYC, Paris and living in the Gulf South. After 20 years in New Orleans, I live with my partner Edmond in the Broadmoor neighborhood, where I have my painting studio.”
