Chris Pavlik is a painter whose expressionist landscapes and ghostly figures temper their beauty with a sense of unease and disquiet. He was born into a highly mobile Army family, and has continued to move frequently throughout his life; these experiences have honed his interest in place and how a landscape creates its own narrative. For the last several years he has worked primarily as a muralist, both on his own and as an assistant to Louisiana-based long-time muralist Robert Dafford. Chris’ murals in Louisiana can be seen in Lafayette, Metairie, and New Orleans. He continues to exhibit his studio work regularly in Lafayette, LA, which he is happy to now call home.
