N.O. Finer Fibers

Emily Perkins, the maker behind N.O. Finer Fibers, is a New Orleans native who specializes in macrame fiber art. She enjoys creating wall hangings, plant hangers, and various other products like curtains, bags, yoga straps, and jewelry out of cotton rope. She often sells her creations around town at art markets and local stores and sometimes teaches macrame workshops.

Emily strives toward zero waste in her artistic process. She makes “scrap pieces” out of trimmings from previous macrame projects, and she shreds the smallest strands to fill homemade pillows. In 2019, she collaborated with another local artist on a macrame room divider made out of recycled rope scraps and salvaged window shutters that won “Best in Functional Objects” at the Salvations design competition.
