Doe\, “all music comes from Louisiana or Mississippi” which is where Bogue Chitto (Choctaw for ‘big river’) draws its inspiration. A bluegrass country funk band out of Bulbancha (New Orleans)\, Louisiana\, Bogue Chitto features original compositions by John DePriest\, the bandleader\, banjo player\, and songwriter\, in styles from Hill Country blues\, bluegrass\, Louisiana French and country\, all with a funk backbone. The band is rounded out by Robert Matschiner on electric bass\, Mike Harvey on fiddle and guitar and Carolyn Broussard on vocals and washboard\, creating a powerful\, almost acoustic sound. Bogue Chitto has toured around the Southeast\, including playing festivals in Florida\, Louisiana\, Mississippi and Oklahoma. The band was nominated for the Best Emerging Artist Award in 2022 by OffBeat Magazine\, and organized and performed at the first two Bulbancha Bluegrass and Old Time Festivals in 2023 and 2024. They have recorded and are planning to release their debut album in mid-2026. \nAbout Ogden After Hours \nOgden After Hours (OAH) is an event that takes place on select Thursdays and features a diverse lineup of programs reflecting and celebrating the diversity of Southern art and culture. Pleasant grew up masking with the Golden Eagles tribe of Uptown\, learning the intricate craft of beading from his grandfather\, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux. His fashion brand\, Marlence\, merges Black Masking culture with contemporary design\, bringing the tradition to a global audience. Marwan Pleasant has been featured both globally and nationally\, from the Hôtel de Ville in Paris\, France to The Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
