During this workshop\, participants will learn methods to reduce the pressure to draw things “correctly\,” and instead learn how to consider these elements as integral shapes of the composition. \nThe workshop will touch on composition\, perspective\, simplification and massing and painting process. \nParticipants should bring reference photos (a cityscape) from which they will create small compositional sketches to begin an acrylic painting. His work has been exhibited in group and solo exhibitions around the country at locations including the Maryhill Museum of Art\, The San Bernardino County Museum and the Contemporary Art Museum of Raleigh. He has led workshops and taught courses in public schools\, universities\, art centers\, museums\, correctional facilities and nonprofit organizations around the United States\, as well as in Bolivia\, Thailand and India. She is an Associate Professor at the University of New Orleans\, overseeing the photography program. \nShe earned her MFA in Imaging Arts-Photography from the Rochester Institute of Technology and has been an active member of the New Orleans art community since 2006. Her work has been exhibited at various institutions\, including Ogden Museum of Southern Art\, the New Orleans Museum of Art and Acadiana Center for the Arts\, and completed artist residencies at Footnote Centre for Image and Text in Belgrade\, Serbia\, and Kolaj Institute in New Orleans. While Reinhardt and his group\, the Quintette du Hot Club de France\, are the trio’s main influence\, their repertoire includes instrumental and vocal versions of swing-era classics popularized by artists ranging from Fats Domino to Billie Holiday to Peggy Lee. At the heart of their performances is the joy they share in bringing their favorite tunes to life together.\nAbout Ogden After Hours \nOgden After Hours (OAH) is a monthly event that takes place on select Thursdays and features a diverse lineup of programs reflecting and celebrating the diversity of Southern art and culture. Tran. Tran is the author of the debut novel\, “Daughters of the New Year.” Her stories\, essays and reviews can be found in such places as “The Georgia Review\,” “Literary Hub\,” “Joyland Magazine\,” the “Los Angeles Review of Books\,” “Prairie Schooner” and “Harvard Review Online.” She completed an M.F.A. at the University of Mississippi and a Ph.D in Creative Writing at Ohio University. Tran and Daughters of the New Year\n  \nAbout Uyên Đinh  \nUyên Đinh is a collaborating Curator of Hoa Tay (Flower Hands). As a graduate of Barnard College\, she advocates for multiculturalism as well as decolonization in cultural spaces and art practices.  Her focus on Vietnamese perspectives is reflected in her writings\, research and community work. \n  \n  \n  \n  \nAbout Megan Holt \nOne Book One New Orleans headshots for Megan Holt and Latoya Taylor at City Park \nMegan Holt is Executive Director for One Book One New Orleans (OBONO) and the Words & Music Festival. She received a duel degree in English and Spanish in 2003\, and a Ph.D in English and Comparative Literature in 2013. Also in 2013\, she began her work in community literacy. In 2015\, she was named one of “Gambit’s” 40 Under 40 and one of “New Orleans Magazine’s” People to Watch. Her 2021 TEDx Talk\, “Becoming Part of the Story\,” focuses on her work as an adult education advocate. Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities recognized her efforts in 2023 with the Light Up for Literacy Award. \nHer most recent professional accomplishment is founding a book club inside Orleans Parish Jail\, connecting local authors with incarcerated readers.
