DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday\, August 3 at 11 a.m. and again at 2 p.m. for a guided tour of Louisiana Contemporary\, presented by The Helis Foundation\, with this year’s juror Lauren Haynes\, Head Curator of Governors Island Arts and Vice President for Arts and Culture at the Trust for Governors Island. \nDuring this interactive tour\, Ms. Haynes will discuss a selection of work from the exhibition alongside artists from this year’s exhibition who will be on hand to contribute to the interactive dialogue and offer further insights into their work. Different artworks will be discussed on each tour. \nThis tour is free and open to the public\, but pre-registration is requested. \nThe 2 p.m. tour has reached capacity! Salon Studios\, a residency partnership between Arts New Orleans and Canal Place Shopping Center\, will have its five fashion designers light up the Afterparty\, with designer having a model representing their brands in illuminated couture designs. The five designers include: Renée Johnson of Afri Modiste\, VanShawn Kayie Branch of Kayie\, Denisio Truitt of Denisio Truitt\, Nicholas Linson of St. Nick and Jehlani Nasira of Asira.

DESCRIPTION:Monday\, August 19 – Friday\, August 23\n10 a.m. – 2 p.m. \nThis five-day adult program provides opportunities to deepen your artistic skills or explore new areas of expression. Creativity\, community\, learning and fun are the rules of the day exploring a wide variety of 2D and 3D media. \nIn this one week deep dive\, focus on the array of artworks on view from the Museum’s Permanent Collection and from the exhibition Louisiana Contemporary. Participants will work with visual artist and educator Mikhayla Harrell to create rich explorations in sculpture\, painting\, printmaking\, mixed media and beyond. All classes will include mindfulness techniques and NeuroArts discussions to boost creativity\, focus and success. \nFor adults of all levels seeking a new or refined creative edge. All supplies provided. She refined her skills as a teenager at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts and continued her studies at Loyola University. Although classically trained\, Christin’s heart lies in soulful music. Drawing inspiration from her city’s rich funk and jazz heritage\, she blends classical technique with modern\, sultry tones. Currently\, she is working on an EP of original music\, set for release within the next year. \nExplore her music\nAbout Ogden After Hours \nOgden After Hours (OAH) is a monthly event that takes place on select Thursdays and features a diverse lineup of programs reflecting and celebrating the diversity of Southern art and culture.
