This program will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the making of an art museum and offer an introduction to Southern art\, history\, and culture. Stephanie has studied meditation for 30 years and has guided meditation in and around the United States on a Corporate Level for eight years. After studying a combination of meditation traditions Osborne has created a beautifully blended experience.   \nOsborne’s goal is to bring mindfulness into the forefront of people of all ages\, in and around the New Orleans area.  The mission of Meditate New Orleans is to help people cultivate inner calm and connection with their higher selves by practicing stillness\, gratitude\, compassion and self-love.   \n  \nKim Nicole  \nKim Nicole is an organic gardener\, yoga instructor and dance instructor. Kim is grateful to connect with the New Orleans community through teaching self-care techniques\, movement and herbalism classes. In recent years her holistic passions gave vision for By Our Hands which provides organic herbs\, remedies and holistic workshops to aid people on their wellness journey. Her goal when teaching is that everyone feels open to express themselves freely through breath and movement. \n  \nSid Montz   \nSid Montz had the good fortune to be introduced to both Yoga and Buddhism in the mid 80’s in La Jolla\, California while studying at University of California San Diego. He is E-RYT-500 senior yoga teacher/trainer specializing currently in Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga. \nWhile he’s trained\, practiced and taught meditation in a few Buddhists traditions over 35 years\, his primary teacher is Vietnamese Zen Master\, Thich Nhat Hahn. Thich Nhat Hahn is a global spiritual leader\, poet and peace activist\, revered around the world for his pioneering teachings on mindfulness\, global ethics and peace. Sid is an ordained lay monastic in Thich Nhat Hahn’s Order of Interbeing. \n  \nMikhayla Harrell  \nMikhayla Harrell has been meditating and teaching yoga for over twenty years. She is a senior teacher/trainer ERYT 500 and RYT 500\, yogi\, artist\, educator\, mother\, wildflower enthusiast and a relentless learner of life.  She has studied under multiple lineages such as Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction\, Vipassana\, Zen Buddhism\, Yoga Nidra and Mindfulness. She enjoys learning and teaching  yoga\, nonviolent communication\, creative mindfulness and art.  \nShe teaches to share an experience of safe\, aligned and challenging practices that allow a fuller\, more embodied life. DESCRIPTION:Ogden After Hours is a monthly event that takes place on every third Thursday of the month and features a diverse lineup of programs reflecting and celebrating the diversity of Southern art and culture. \nMargie Perez is a vivacious Singer and Songwriter specializing in a versatile blend of Blues\, Pop and Latin with a New Orleans Funky touch. Dubbed by Offbeat Magazine as “One of the hardest working musicians in New Orleans” she leads her own band which performs her original music\, and is leader of the 10 piece Latin ensemble\, Muevelo. Her 2017 release “Love Is All” was named one of “Offbeat’s” 50 Favorite CD’s. She received 3 of Offbeat’s “Best of the Beat” award nominations and was featured on WWNO’s “Music Inside Out” with a charming interview by Gwen Thompkins. \nLatin jazz harpist\, Patrice Fisher favors the music of New Orleans\, Brazil and Cuba\, saying that\, not only is the harp ‘comfortable’ harmonically with the music\, but she is drawn to its complexities and syncopations: “That’s what makes you want to dance.” Patrice is a graduate of Tulane and Wolf Trap and lives in New Orleans\, where she has been composing and performing since the 1980’s. She has appeared at numerous international jazz festivals with her group\, “Arpa\,” in Bolivia\, Brazil\, Cancun and Guatemala. Patrice has 15 CDs of original music\, the latest being “Happy Socks.” She has performed\, for more than 30 years\, at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Patrice also performs Celtic music and directs the New Orleans Celtic Harp Ensemble. Join art educator Mikhayla Harrell for an interactive tour and art activity exploring Southern art\, artists and art-making. \nThis fall we will focus on artworks that highlight the elements of art. DESCRIPTION:An Ogden Museum of Southern Art docent is a volunteer who leads tours\, helping visitors to the Museum See the South through the visual arts. Prospective docents should have an interest in Southern culture and a desire to interact with adults and children\, helping them discover their own interpretations of art. This program will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the making of an art museum and offer an introduction to Southern art\, history\, and culture. The training will include museum techniques and education strategies for engaging museum visitors in meaningful explorations of works of art in the collection and in special exhibitions. \nThis session of New Docent Training will begin in September 2023. Prospective Docents should attend all six training classes listed below. DESCRIPTION:Join Young Audiences of Louisiana for “Baby Artsplay! TM\,” presented by The Helis Foundation. \nThis free 6-part workshop series is made possible by The Helis Foundation. The 30-minute workshops provide engaging arts-based activities designed to instruct caregivers on how to use the arts at home to promote early learning.
