DESCRIPTION:SESSION II \nWednesdays\, November 4 – December 16\, 2020\, 4  – 5:30 pm (NEW DATES)\n(No class Thanksgiving week)\nGrades 6- 12\nLed by New Orleans photographer\, Aubrey Edwards!  \nEach week\, students will be given a shooting assignment with a particular theme\, building off what they learned in live meets.  \nIn each live club meeting\, students will share the work they created that week\, reflect on their process\, learn a new photographic technique and concept\, and have hands on lessons.  The 1.5 hour session will be formatted to include 45 mins of on screen learning and sharing\, and 45 mins of off screen guided photo exercises. By the end of our club\, students will understand composition\, different types of lighting\, how to use images to tell a story and how to comfortably use their cameras. \nPhotography Club participants may use any type of digital camera (including phone cameras). Kids gain both confidence and an understanding of the visual arts while building painting\, drawing\, sculpture and mixed-media skills. The second fall session will take place on six Thursdays\, November 5 –  December 17\, 2020 (no meeting on Thanksgiving)\, from 4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.  \nThrough virtually guided\, hands-on art projects\, students will develop an eye for color\, composition and design\, while learning about the artists and art of the American South. Before the session begins\, each student will receive an art box with all the supplies needed for the session. During each weekly class\, Museum Educator Mikhayla Harrell will be live on Zoom to guide kids through deep art observation\, critical thinking\, art making procedures and mindfulness practices. \nThis session is dedicated to looking at and making artwork inspired by the theme of Feeling Healthy and Strong. All students will create an amazing portfolio of artwork which they will be proud to share at home and in an online exhibition presented at the end of the session.  \nOgden Museum After School Art Club is tailored for artists in second through fifth grades. \nThe Art Box of supplies can be shipped for an additional fee or picked up at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. \n$200 members/$225 non-members (includes an Ogden Museum Art Box with all supplies!) \n  \nRegister

DESCRIPTION:Mondays\, November 9 – December 14\, 2020 (6 sessions)\, 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. \nExplore the healing power of art! This six-week session will draw inspiration from the Ogden Museum’s permanent collection and works currently on exhibition in Entwined Ritual Wrapping and Binding in Contemporary Southern Art. Artists investigated will include Sonya Yong James\, Sister Gertrude Morgan\, Howard Finster and others whose practices focus on the spiritual and healing elements of art-making and art objects. The course will also study historical resources relating to spirituality in art and neurological “bottom up and top down” brain processing. Learn how these concepts can inform your artistic practices\, enhance creative flow and contribute to your overall wellness.  \nPlease come prepared with the following art supplies. Shop locally at Mo’s Art Supplies and receive a student discount of 15%. Simply mention Ogden Museum Adult Art Class when shopping.
