SUMMARY:Dustan Louque
DESCRIPTION:Dustan Louque collects stories and cultures and distills them into song. An American songwriter who’s often called Zelig’s musical son\, he describes his sound as somewhere between Mod & Rocker. During his childhood years growing up in Grande Pointe\, he loved Fats Domino\, Hank Williams\, Sr.\, and Prince. In his formative years he discovered the British sounds of The Smiths\, Depeche Mode and New Order at The Gold Mine Saloon in New Orleans. This music had a hold on him and sent him down a path of unlimited possibility. On his first trip to New York in college\, he was overcome with an extreme desire to play the piano. Upon returning to the campus of Mississippi State\, Louque begged the staff to let him in a class. It wasn’t long before he stole the key to the music building so he could play through the night. He loved to play Chopin Nocturnes and Beethoven\, but soon discovered guitar and a singing voice. \nPurchase Tickets

SUMMARY:Quiana Lynell
DESCRIPTION:The 2017 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition winner\, Quiana Lynell infuses her classical training with her gospel upbringing and approaches jazz as a storyteller.  Her mesmerizing performances can only come about because Quiana believes every word that journeys from her soul.  She hits every note with perfect timing and impeccable pitch.  If Sam Cooke were alive to hear her performance of his classic\, “A Change is Gonna Come\,” he might say\, “yeah…that is what I meant.”\n\nA graduate from Louisiana State University’s music department\, Quiana is able to harness her voice as a true instrument and perform various genres of music while maintaining her own sound.\n\nAs a performer\, arranger and songwriter\, Quiana is making her statement on the music scene.  “When I heard Quiana sing\, I immediately invited her to share the stage with me in Poland with my band and a 75 piece orchestra.  After just one rehearsal\, Nona Hendryx (from the iconic R&B group LaBelle) invited her to perform a duet on ‘A Change is Gonna Come.’  Quiana commanded that stage and left us all with the same feeling as my initial thought\, ‘who are you and where have you been\,'” recalled Blanchard.\n\nThis past July\, Quiana went into Esplanade Studios in New Orleans to record some tracks with Blanchard (trumpet\, synths)\, Jon Cowherd (piano\, organ)\, Marvin Sewell (guitars)\, David Pulphus (bass)\, and Eric Harland (drums\, percussion).  Some originals and some classics\, all uniquely approached to breathe a new purpose\, a new sound into these melodies.\n\nDon’t be the last to discover what Europe\, many musicians and concert promoters already know\, Quiana Lynell is on her way to becoming one of the most important vocal discoveries in jazz. \nPurchase Tickets

SUMMARY:Panorama Jazz Band
DESCRIPTION:The Panorama Jazz Band took shape in November 1995 when a friend asked New Orleans clarinetist Ben Schenck to organize a combo for her wedding.  Originally a trio\, the group gradually evolved by 2006 to include seven players (clarinet\, alto saxophone\, trombone\, accordion\, banjo\, tuba and drums).  The original concept was to perform New Orleans Traditional Jazz and drop in an occasional number from the Caribbean or Eastern Europe.  Before long\, however\, the musicians in the band gradually became more fascinated by Jewish klezmer\, the Creole biguines of Martinique\, and folk music from the Balkans and Latin America\, and occasionally dropping in music by Jellyroll Morton\, Louis Armstrong\, Sidney Bechet or Fats Domino to remind listeners where the band is from. \nIn 1997 they began playing Mardi Gras parades\, a project which eventually grew into a separate marching outfit\, the Panorama Brass Band. That group has been active primarily during Carnival time in New Orleans as the official brass band of the Krewe du Jieux and the St. Anthony Ramblers as well as marching in such parades as Krewe of Muses\, Knights of Babylon\, Krewe of Tucks\, Krewe of Morpheus and Box of Wine.  The brass band does also perform in New Orleans nightclubs as well as for weddings\, funerals\, private parties and other events. \nPurchase Tickets \n
