DESCRIPTION:On Father’s Day weekend\, treat your dad to an art-making workshop with Keith Duncan\, exploring Keith Duncan: Battle of the Bands. Show your school pride by creating a mixed media portrait inspired by your high school or university marching band.  \nThe day begins with an artist-led tour of Keith Duncan: Battle of the Bands. Back in the classroom\, participants learn the basics of figure drawing and select their favorite band member. Does the drum major steal the show or are you fascinated by the dancers’ steps? Membership begins at the low price of $60. \nJoin the O today\n\nAbout Keith Duncan: \n\nKeith Duncan was born in Plaquemines Parish\, Louisiana in 1967. He received a BFA from Louisiana State University and an MFA from Hunter College (CUNY) New York\, NY. Duncan is recognized as a visual storyteller who draws inspiration from personal narrative\, community engagement\, news media\, art history\, Black culture and the tradition of New Orleans. In his latest body of work\, Duncan celebrates the vibrant tradition of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) marching bands and band culture. DESCRIPTION:Join Richard McCabe\, Curator of Photography at Ogden Museum of Southern Art\, as he leads a tour of the current exhibition\, The Unending Stream: Chapter I. The studio practice of six New Orleans photographers (Tiffany Smith\, Thom Bennett\, Brittany Markert\, Kevin Kline\, Trenity Thomas and Jacob Mitchell) will be discussed. \nPhotographers Trenity Thomas and Kevin Kline will be present to talk about their individual projects. \nFree and open to the community. \n\nAbout The Unending Stream: Chapter I \nThe Unending Stream: Chapter I\, highlights New Orleans’ thriving photography community. The title of the exhibition pays homage to a Clarence John Laughlin photograph of the same title\, which is a part of the permanent collection at Ogden Museum of Southern Art. Laughlin’s seminal work\, created between the 1930s and 1950s\, is an important chapter in the long-storied relationship between New Orleans and photography.
