DESCRIPTION:The Ogden After Hours Jazz Series continues in celebration of Herman Leonard: Images of Jazz\, presented by The Helis Foundation.  \nThis evening will feature an electrifying performance by New Orleans trumpeter\, vocalist and composer Aurélien Barnes. Learn more about membership perks by visiting here. \n\nAbout Aurélien Barnes \nAurélien Barnes is a New Orleans-based trumpeter\, percussionist\, singer and composer known for his deep roots in the city’s rich musical tradition. Born in 1995\, he is part of the new generation of musicians carrying forward the legacy of New Orleans music. Barnes is a key member of The Rumble\, a two-time Grammy-nominated band that blends classic New Orleans Mardi Gras Indian funk with modern energy and sounds. With three Grammy nominations for Best Regional Roots Album\, Barnes is recognized for his dynamic musicianship\, songwriting and dedication to preserving and evolving the cultural heritage of his hometown. Aurélien Barnes regularly leads the house band at Preservation Hall. \nHe is deeply involved in the traditional scene\, carrying on the legacy of the style pioneered by King Oliver and Louis Armstrong. Additionally\, he is a regular member of Delfeayo Marsalis and the Uptown Jazz Orchestra\, and makes frequent appearances with the EDM-based live band Boogie Trio. He is a prominent part of the New Orleans funk scene\, performing with legends such as Ivan Neville and Tony Hall. In addition to this\, Barnes is steeped in the city’s rich cultural practices as a member of the Northside Skull and Bone Gang\, an Afro-new Orleanian carnival group that has existed since 1819. \n\nAbout Ogden After Hours \nOgden After Hours (OAH) is a special event that features a diverse lineup of programs reflecting and celebrating the diversity of Southern art and culture.
