A graduate of the Mozarteum University in Salzburg\, Austria\, where he earned his Master of Arts degree\, Olondo has become an internationally recognized performer and educator. \nHe has released three critically acclaimed albums\, appeared on global television and radio programs and inspired composers to create original works specifically for him. Beyond the stage\, Olondo is a professor of guitar at Tulane University in New Orleans and tours extensively throughout the United States and Europe with his celebrated concert series. He also serves as Artistic Director of the New Orleans International Guitar Festival and leads the Cuban ensemble Javier Olondo & AsheSon. \nOlondo’s contributions to music and culture have been recognized with numerous honors\, including Guitarist of the Year at the Global Excellence Awards\, the Big Easy Award for Best Latin Band\, the Keys to the City of Kenner and the distinction of Honorary Citizen of the City of New Orleans. \nThrough Javier Olondo & Friends\, he brings together classical\, jazz\, folk and traditional sounds from around the world\, with a deep emphasis on Cuban and Latin American music. “I feel that many composers have been inspired by their own musical roots for their compositions. Often there is a very fine line between classical music\, jazz and folk—and this is the challenge I like to explore\,” says Olondo. \nlearn more about javier\n\nAbout the New Orleans Hispanic Heritage Foundation \nThe New Orleans Hispanic Heritage Foundation (NOHHF) is a non-profit community organization whose main purpose is to cultivate and promote the Hispanic heritage within the New Orleans community and the greater region.
