Participants will learn about harvesting the palmetto and how to prepare the palmetto to weave. Everyone will learn the foundations of basket weaving and start a palmetto basket. \nAll workshops are conducted in a friendly and welcoming environment. All materials are provided. Luster is described by many as a teacher of Houma traditions\, a healer and a practitioner of tribal ways. she was the first to reintroduce an ancient form of basketry and now teaches the techniques to ensure that the knowledge is not lost again.
