Prospective docents should have an interest in Southern culture and a desire to interact with adults and children\, helping them discover their own interpretations of art. This program will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the making of an art museum and offer an introduction to Southern art\, history\, and culture. The training will include museum techniques and education strategies for engaging museum visitors in meaningful explorations of works of art in the collection and in special exhibitions. \nThis session of New Docent Training will begin in September 2025. Next\, Larguia will demonstrate watercolor techniques\, focusing on a provided reference image. Participants will then create their own paintings inspired by the exhibition for the rest of the session. By the end of the workshop\, all participants will leave with a completed watercolor artwork. \nAll workshops are conducted in a friendly and welcoming environment. His life-inspired luminous watercolors celebrate both the South and beyond. A self-described “paintaholic\,” Larguia paints with a direct approach both en plein air and in the studio. Trained as an Academic painter\, his work is expressive yet formal in structure. With 30+ years of painting experience and 20+ years of teaching\, Larguia has been involved in the New Orleans art scene\, showing in galleries and Museums across the South.
