CORE meets communities where they are\, offering essential resources to hard-to-reach locations using a walk-up model that provides easier access to testing and on-site registration. \nCORE will be on-site administering FREE vaccinations from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The first 15 people to get vaccinated get a Family Membership (Value: $125)! Plus when you get your vaccine\, you will receive 4 FREE admission tickets to Ogden Museum to use at a later date\, a 20% off coupon to the Ogden Museum Store and more!  \nPfizer and Janssen vaccines will be available to guests who participate. Per the CDC and Department of Health’s guidelines\, CORE will also be providing boosters for those who received the Pfizer vaccine at least 6 months ago.  \nEnter through the Library entrance on Andrew Higgins.  \nvaccination registration\nAbout CORE\n\nCORE is a rapid-response\, nimble emergency relief organization that partners with communities to address both the immediate and long-term needs of the marginalized communities most vulnerable to disaster. They focus on building sustainable infrastructure and expanding essential wraparound services\, including shelter\, food\, water\, physical and mental health\, and economic support services. \nAmid the COVID-19 pandemic\, CORE is supporting heavily impacted marginalized communities across the U.S.\, in partnership with local governments\, medical providers\, and community organizations in multiple cities including Atlanta\, Chicago\, Los Angeles\, Napa Valley\, Navajo Nation\, New Orleans\, North Carolina\, Oakland (Alameda County) and Washington D.C. Since March 2020\, CORE has been providing free testing and essential services at fixed and mobile sites nationwide\, and has been operating community vaccination sites in Los Angeles and Atlanta since December 2020. They have also been conducting contact tracing through an innovative home visit program and providing wrap-around services to communities in need. To date\, they have successfully provided close to 5 million tests\, over 550\,000 vaccinations\, and more than 2\,000 contact tracing and resource coordination home visits. \nDONATION DROP OFF INFORMATION \nCORE is currently collecting supplies for 10 communities in the Bayou and River Parishes\, as well as New Orleans\, that have been affected by Hurricane Ida. Donations of socks and underwear (new in package) as well as diapers\, baby wipes\, baby formula and baby clothes (new) can be dropped off in the Museum’s atrium through October 3.

DESCRIPTION:Due to the impacts of Hurricane Ida\, this curated conversation date has been changed to Saturday\, October 23 from 3 to 4 p.m. \nJoin us for an in-person Curated Conversation with RaMell Ross and Scott Matthews on October 23 at 3 p.m. in the Patrick Taylor Library. This event is free and open to the public\, but advanced registration is preferred. \nCurator of Photography\, Richard McCabe\, hosts exhibiting artist RaMell Ross and scholar Scott Matthews for a dynamic Curated Conversation. The discussion will explore the history of photography in Hale County Alabama from the early 20th century\, including careers of Walker Evans and William Christenberry. Matthews and Ross will also speak to Ross’ place within the historical context of documentarians of Hale County and the American South. \nRaMell Ross is a photographer\, Filmmaker and Professor of Art at Brown University. In 2019\, Ross’ film\, “Hale County This Morning\, This Evening\,” was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Film. Ross was included in the New Southern Photography exhibition at Ogden Museum in 2018-19. Ross’s photographs\, i-Home and Sleepy Church\, are included in Ogden Museum’s permanent Collection. On September 25\, Ross’ solo exhibition\, Spell\, Time\, Practice\, American Body\, opens at Ogden Museum. The exhibition will feature photographs from A South County\, A Hale County series as well as site-specific video and sculptural installations. \nScott Matthews \nScott Matthews is a scholar\, writer and assistant professor of History at Florida State College in Jacksonville\, Florida.
