DESCRIPTION:Tuesdays from 1 – 4 p.m.\nJanuary 14\, 21\, 28 and February 11 \nJoin Museum Educator Myron Solomon\, Jr. for a four-week journey into mixed media and collage art inspired by the work of Benny Andrews. Explore how Andrews used bold colors\, layered textures and personal narratives to create impactful art. \nIn this hands-on class\, you’ll experiment with a variety of materials and techniques\, blending collage and painting to craft unique visual stories. \nEach session focuses on a different aspect of the process\, allowing participants to create a finished or near-finished piece each week. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist\, this class will encourage you to push creative boundaries. \nSupplies provided\, but personal collage and painting materials are encouraged. A Dillard University BFA and School of Visual Arts MFA graduate\, his work pushes beyond traditional New Orleans art while honoring its cultural roots. Exploring existential themes\, Myron uses hyperbole to evoke introspection in his audience. His passion for the arts extends to education\, where he shares his knowledge with youth\, aiming to inspire the same transformative experiences that shaped his own journey.
