Ogden Museum Meditation (OMM)

Refresh your day with a free, thirty-minute “drop-in” meditation at Ogden Museum led by Museum Educator and yoga instructor Mikhayla Harrell.

Being in the moment is essential for appreciating a great work of art. The tools of mindfulness meditation enhance our ability to stay present with our everyday lives and aesthetic experiences. By cultivating awareness, we can create calm and peace amidst our to-do lists, errands, family and work life and bring the creative spark of Southern art into the art of our everyday lives.

In Buddhist traditions, learning and practice is always free, but the practice of Dāna is an act of practicing generosity. Please consider a donation to help us continue to present creative arts programming inspired by Southern art and artists. This program is free with admission. If you are a Louisiana resident, admission is free on Thursdays.

About OMM

OMM meets every Thursday from 12:30 – 1 p.m. All experience levels are welcome. Chairs and cushions are provided. The last Thursday of each month will include an art talk and meditation. Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the session begins. Advanced registration is preferred. This program is free with admission. If you are a Louisiana resident, admission is free on Thursdays, courtesy of The Helis Foundation.

About the Facilitator

Mikhayla Harrell ERYT 500, M.A., is a seasoned yoga, meditation and art instructor. She specializes in strengthening the interconnected threads between creativity and equanimity to enhance the rich tapestry of joy in our lives. You can find her weaving these connections through her art classes at Ogden Museum and through her yoga courses at Balance Yoga and Wellness Studio.
