About Nat and Kat Cajun String Band

Nat & Kat Cajun String Band – featuring Natalie Naquin on cello and Katy Murphy on guitar – was born from a shared love for early roots Cajun and Creole string music. Based in New Orleans, the duo leans into their uncommon instrumentation while staying grounded in tradition. Together, they craft stripped-down yet sonically rich arrangements of classic waltzes, two-steps, reels and ballads for cello, guitar and vocals, balancing driving rhythm with touching lyricism. Equally at home fueling a dance floor or drawing in seated listeners, Nat & Kat’s haunting interpretations of timeless classics invite you to move, listen and drift-transporting audiences to moonlit bayous, sonorous cypress swamps and dreamy live oak groves.

Brandon Broussard is Louisiana-born and has spent more than 20 years preserving and teaching Louisiana’s partner dance traditions. Through private lessons, workshops and community events, he helps people experience the culture, rhythm and connection that make Louisiana’s folk dances unique. As founder of Louisiana Dance Roots, his approach emphasizes authentic social dancing, musicality, responsiveness and moving together with confidence.
